The very characteristics of new and emerging technologies that lend themselves to inspiring visions of the future also hold the potential for negative ethical impact. Unfortunately all the projects with technical development do not sufficiently address the ethical issues that arise. In particular, ethical governance in these projects is missing.
The EGAIS (Ethical GovernAnce of emergIng technologieS) project is funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme (Science in Society) to overcome the existent limitations of the current approaches to ethical governance in projects with technical development.
Given the wide impact of the ethical implications that arise from new and emerging technologies, the EGAIS project aims to provide recommendations and concrete guidance on ethical governance techniques that can be applied throughout a technical development project.
